Inaugural iappANZ Privacy Conference

Stephen spoke on the Technologists Panel at the first conference of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, A-NZ Chapter, in Sydney, 27 August 2008.

The theme of the presentation was that technologists tend to badly underestimate their role in privacy, thanks to the prevalent "technology neutral" stance, and the naive slogan that "privacy is not a technology issue". There are a range of better technological responses to privacy, including habitualising PIAs as part of the IT design cycle, and adopting the philosophy of Identity Plurality.

Stephen's annotated slides are available here.
